This was my first time to experiment with film and it was all the way back in November, 2013! My good friend and photographer, Alex Martin, wanted to get together to do a fun, creative shoot with my other good friend/model/muse, Katy. I used my Nikon and my Pentax film camera that day but basically just focused on using my Nikon. It took me an entire year to get this film developed because I guess I just didn’t really like film that much back then. Trust me, if I could go back in time and kick myself I would. I was one of those people that was against something when they had not even tried it yet (stupid, I know). I was so stubborn and couldn’t accept that maybe I should try to expand beyond digital photography.
Even though I took these photos a year before I saw them, they ended up being exactly how I wanted them to be and I was so happy. I wanted the dark/Lana Del Rey vibe that I had seen on her new album, Ultraviolence (I’ll get more into that later though), and so when I saw these images it just changed everything for me. It completely inspired me to keep growing and keep learning this new style I had made for myself without even knowing it.
I plan on posting my favorite film work from my recent sessions here throughout the next couple of weeks. These film posts are probably going to be my favorites since I have not shown anyone and because they are so different from my usual work.
