When I was planning my trip to Los Angeles I was setting up all the shoots I wanted to do there and I knew I wanted to work with some new faces. I found Neal on Instagram not too long before my trip and I thought she lived in California only to find out that she actually lives in Seattle. Her look was so inspiring to me though that I didn’t want to pass up working with her just because of distance. So, I booked her a flight from Seattle to Los Angeles, picked her up on my drive down from Napa and we immediately did a shoot straight from the airport. Something new I wanted to do when photographing Neal was to not focus on normal poses. I wanted my set from this series to be unconventional and I wanted to pick images and poses that I normally wouldn’t for a set. I think being uncomfortable and doing something out of the ordinary for your work is a necessary part of growth and I was happy this shoot with Neal allowed me to do that!
Neal, you are AMAZING. Thank you for flying from Seattle, roughing the cold ocean water, taking direction so well, singing and dancing to Beyonce with me (on her beyday duh), and for eating awesome vegan food with me. I can’t wait to work together again!
